  No that is not true. ARV’s are anti-retroviral drugs. They are only effective against viruses and in particular to HIV infections. However farmers that supply most of the chicken that we eat including to hotels make use of antibiotics to prevent against illness. One consequence of antibiotics is that they make chicken to increase in size and it is known that some farmers deliberately provide antibiotics to chicken and livestock to increase their yield. This has a serious repercussions in antibiotic resistance. Many countries together with the United Nations are now working to prohibit the use of antibiotics in farm produce.
