I wake up in the morning, around 6 am, and laze in bed looking at social media. I run the department’s social media channels and it’s good to know the latest from our circles. We interact with persons from all time zones, which means when we sleep the rest of the world is awake; so it’s important to look at what happened when we were asleep.
I then proceed to do easy exercises – a few sit ups & jogging on the spot. Hehe! After fixing myself some breakfast, I proceed to work – 7 minutes away from my place. I am normally there 10 minutes or so before 8, clock-in time.
Emails will then form a great part of my morning – communicating with different audiences and several planning meetings. I love lunch time, it’s a great time to socialize with my friends from other departments and catch up about anything – from what’s trending to starting trending topics!
Afternoon, is more relaxed and easy – I take the time to read research papers, journals, and write articles. Once a month, I spend the afternoon doing interviews of re-known scientists on Twitter, how cool! This is aimed at helping & motivating young people know more about science and attract them to it.
Clock out is normally at 5, I’ll linger around till 5:30 then head for social activities – such as catching up with friends and be home by 7.
I love watching wildlife shows – they normally consume my evening with dinner and social media in between. Normally, by 10 pm I will be in my 2nd dream.
That’s a typical day for me.

Get students to be attached to scientists for them to understand what a typical day looks like for someone working in Science. This includes also attending meetings and working in the lab to going to the field.
To make sure so many students are motivated and inspired, I will lobby my friends to match up the prize money making in Kshs. 100,000!
Sooooooo many students inspired and Science in advanced!
