  Sound is a form of energy. Think of you hitting a drum. As you are hitting the drum with sticks, the kinetic energy is transferred to moving the membrane of the drum, which stirs the air and those waves hit your ear drum. The airwaves carry energy of sorts, and the louder the sound the higher the energy (measured in decibles).
