  there are good and bad effects as with all things
  some good effects
  tattoos date back into ancient times such as Egyptian dynasties.
  tattoos help some people express themselves so as a sign of beauty or belonging to a group such as gang, military group, etc.
  
  the bad effects
  one can get an infection if done in unclean area
  an allergic reaction to the dyes used and some people develop scars as a part of the reaction after healing
  it is painful to have one done so not the fearful ones of needles
